ORBIZ Promotes Mike Troop to Principal

ORBIZ are proud to announce the appointment of Mike Troop to the position of Principal for Mining in our Asia Pacific team.

In this role, Mike will utilise his 22-years experience in the application of lean management principles, gained in a series of operational and consultancy roles, to lead the delivery of a variety of specialist performance improvement, project management and advisory engagements with our clients across the Asia Pacific region.

Through Mike’s leadership, we aim to continue our growth in the mining industry, by supporting our clients to resolve operational constraints and drive their performance to new levels.”

Mike began his industry career in 1998 with Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK. In a twelve-year tenure with Toyota, Mike held a series of operational and project leadership roles, before being selected to join the Manufacturing Development Division, to provide subject matter expert training to personnel from across Toyota’s European operations through the European Global Production Centre. In Mike’s final position with Toyota, he worked alongside Japanese master trainers to develop and implement a comprehensive new management system across Toyota’s UK car manufacturing plant.

Since embarking on a consultancy career in 2010, Mike has gained experience across a series of industries including, mining, construction, rail, aviation, and healthcare.

In 2011, Mike relocated with his family to Australia, to continue the development of his consultancy career, since then, Mike has been instrumental in delivering a series of significant projects.

Mike’s consultancy career project highlights include:

  • Developing an operational performance management system, across an ASX-listed gold mining company, to deliver improvement in all-in sustaining costs.
  • Implementing a lean manufacturing system, to accelerate delivery of a locomotive fleet, technology upgrade program, for a major iron ore miner moving into autonomous operations.
  • Developing a visual management based, project governance framework, in the public sector, to underpin the delivery of an $8.4b rail infrastructure redevelopment project.
  • Leading a maintenance services supply chain, performance improvement program, for the engineering department of a major international airline based in Singapore.

Mike’s extensive experience, alongside a broad range of sector-specific knowledge, and enthusiasm for client success, make him a highly valued member of the ORBIZ leadership team and a resource that is frequently sought out by our clients. When Mike is not working or travelling to support his clients, he prioritises spending time with his family and friends in Perth.
