ORBIZ and Tektology proudly announce their partnership has secured a contract with the NSW Government to deliver a pilot program to promote operational excellence in manufacturing across regional New South Wales.
The NSW Government is investing $800,000 in this pilot program to support the state’s regional manufacturing industry in implementing lean manufacturing principles to boost productivity, reduce costs, and increase the state’s domestic and international competitiveness.
This contract, awarded by the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, highlights the industry-leading experience and expertise the partnership between ORBIZ and Tektology provides and their commitment to supporting the development of Australia’s manufacturing industry.
The partnership combines the global expertise in lean manufacturing and operational performance improvement from ORBIZ with Tektology’s international and local capability in system design, business strategy and process re-engineering to create a powerful alliance for resolving complex business challenges in the public and private sectors.
The Lean Manufacturing Pilot Program will deliver up to 55 business audits to help participating companies identify opportunities to increase operational performance. Each participating company will be engaged in a program that involves lean manufacturing awareness training and value stream analysis workshops, resulting in an actionable roadmap to deliver improvement.
“We are delighted to partner with Tektology on this initiative,” said ORBIZ Director Ross Sterland. “By leveraging the combined strengths of our partnership, we’re able to deliver a large and complex program for the NSW Government and the participating manufacturing companies who will invest their valuable time in the activity.”
Minister for Regional NSW, Tara Moriarty, said ORBIZ and Tektology’s combined expertise brings deep industry knowledge that will be invaluable in helping regional manufacturers improve performance and unlock new efficiencies.
“Through this pilot program, businesses will get hands-on support to identify where they can improve and a clear roadmap on how to get there. This kind of practical support can make a real difference on the ground,” Minister Moriarty said.
“By helping regional manufacturers to improve their operations, we’re supporting business growth, boosting local jobs and contributing to the long-term sustainability of our regional economies.”
Michael O’Connor, Principal of Tektology in Australia, expressed his enthusiasm for the project. “This initiative is a valuable and timely investment by the NSW Government. It will provide the participating manufacturers in regional NSW with a great opportunity to accelerate their lean manufacturing journey. We are honoured to have the opportunity to contribute to the program and work with ORBIZ to support the development of regional manufacturing in NSW.”
Michael and Ross both enjoyed formative careers in the manufacturing industry with Toyota in Europe before moving into consultancy. They have collaborated in the lean manufacturing consultancy space since 2008, when they were colleagues at a boutique consulting firm in Sydney.
Michael leads Tektology’s Australian operations on the East Coast. The company has enjoyed significant growth across the public sector over the past 12 months and has offices in Australia, India, the UK, and the Middle East.
Ross founded ORBIZ, a consulting and advisory firm focused on operational performance improvement and project delivery, in 2016. ORBIZ has headquarters in Australia and the UK and supports a growing client base across Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
